Meet our Graduate Intern

Maria Vidal

Maria is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern, currently completing her Masters Degree at UCF. She focuses on trauma-informed care, helping clients understand how past experiences shape present patterns - especially in areas like negative self talk, emotion regulation, relationship patterns, and attachment - while guiding them in healing and changing those patterns. She specializes in Parts work/IFS-informed therapy, somatic therapy, and attachment-based therapy.

She works with adults and teens and offers a reduced rate of $50 per session, with additional flexibility in cost - considered on a case-by-case basis.

If cost is a concern, we can talk about lower options together, on a case by case basis.

  • To schedule your first session, click the 'Contact Us' button on the right for all of our information. Alternatively, you can email us directly at admin@traumatherapyfl.com to set up a free 15-minute phone call with our intern. • Yes! We offer a free 15-minute phone call with Maria where you can ask her any questions about her approach and determine if you’re a good fit to work together. This call is a great way to get a feel for what to expect in therapy and to see if her style resonates with you.

  • Unfortunately, insurance cannot be used for graduate student intern sessions.

If cost is a concern, please let us know - we’ll talk about options with you.

  • You can meet with Maria both in person and virtually. Click the "contact us" button on the top right corner of our site to find our address and map of our in-person location.

Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant software that's easy to use and convenient for client’s who prefer remote therapy.

  • People typically commit to therapy for 3 to 6 months, dependent on the reason they are coming in. This time frame at a minimum is recommended for you to experience the progress you desire.

Some people choose to stay in therapy for a longer time. In these cases, both the therapist and client agree that it's beneficial to continue meeting for additional skill building or support.

  • Our cancellation policy requires a 24-hour notice for rescheduling or canceling a session. If a session is canceled less than 24 hours in advance, the full rate of the session will be charged.

This policy helps our intern maintain an effective schedule and ensures that she can offer open spots to other clients who may need them. If something urgent arises, please reach out to discuss, and we can address it on a case-by-case basis.

  • Maria will be working with our team through December 2026.

We will also welcome an intern from Rollins College starting in August 2026, whose internship will continue through April 2027.

If you begin working with one intern and still need support after their internship ends, we’ll make sure you’re smoothly transitioned to another member of our intern team.
